What can a moderator do in case of an influx of comments such that the job threatens to become unmanageable?
- Block all access to the module using a .htaccess file.
- Deactivate the comments areas site-wide.
- Publish a breaking news alert notification into a dedicated comments area such as the one below, informing the users that no further comment can be submitted until all feedback received so far has been processed (for example).
- Restore access to the website by deleting the .htaccess file.
A native admin option enabling to limit the number of comments that can be posted by type of content (site, page, blog post) over a specific period of time would therefore be a valuable enhancement.
