Step 1

Preparation

Instead of blind testing one or more modules without preparation, take the time to reflect on the purpose to which you intend to dedicate each one of them. WordPress is specifically suited for collaborative production, and it would be a pity to waste such a potential on a simple information website for which a web design app such as RapidWeaver (Mac App Store version) would be much more appropriate.

Considering further that it takes to have a considerable advance vision to figure how to optimize, against the background of a professional web hosting plan, a WordPress installation comprising four MySQL databases (3 x 400 Mo, plus one of 2 Go) enabling up to 30 simultaneous connections each, it is necessary to go through the following Q&A checklist before any activation, in the (chrono)logical sequential order of the production process:

  • 1. What would the purpose of each module to be installed ?
  • 2. Who are my (groups of) prospects, or target audience(s) ?
  • 3. When will I need to install each of these modules ?
  • 4. Why choose WordPress rather than another CMS ?
  • 5. How will I dispatch these modules on my databases (1) ?
  • 6. Where, i.e. in which server directory, will I install each module ?
